LiveWell Newsletter 03.23.26

LiveWell Finney County Weekly Update – March 23, 2026

LiveWell Finney County’s latest newsletter highlights important health information, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved in building a healthier community.

This week’s featured topic focuses on kratom, a substance increasingly available in local stores such as gas stations and vape shops. While often marketed as a natural supplement, kratom interacts with the same brain receptors as opioids and can lead to dependence, addiction, and serious health effects. The newsletter also raises awareness about OH-7 (7-hydroxymitragynine), a highly concentrated compound found in some kratom products that significantly increases the risk of overdose.

In addition to substance use prevention education, LiveWell continues to promote community health through events and outreach. Upcoming opportunities include the Colon Cancer Lunch & Learn, coalition and LHEAT meetings, and a free HIV Education & Stigma Reduction class aimed at increasing knowledge and reducing stigma in our community.

The newsletter also emphasizes the importance of preventive care, including colon cancer screenings, which can detect and even prevent cancer by removing precancerous polyps early.

LiveWell Finney County remains committed to improving health, well-being, and safety by empowering residents with information and opportunities to take action.
