LiveWell Finney County July Newsletter

This month, LiveWell Finney County is celebrating exciting progress across our community. Garden City was selected to receive a Kansas Safe Routes to School Planning Grant, helping create safer opportunities for students to walk, bike, and roll to school. We’re also preparing for Prevention Night at the Pool on July 29, a free community event focused on promoting healthy, substance-free activities for youth and families.

The newsletter also highlights how changing the environments where we live, learn, work, and play can make healthy choices easier for everyone. You’ll find updates on coalition initiatives, upcoming events, and ways to get involved in improving the health, well-being, and safety of Finney County.

You are invited to the Annual Health and Resource Fair at the United Presbyterian Church, 1719 E. Texas. The time is Saturday July 25 from 9-1 and setup is Saturday 8-9 or Friday 2-4.

The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) is launching an online Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) Cohort through HabitNu, starting this July!

This fantastic, evidence-based program offers critical support to help individuals across the state prevent type 2 diabetes – all conveniently from their own home. JCDHE has a few open slots statewide and wants us to help spread the word!

This week, we’re excited to share that LiveWell Finney County has been selected by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) as one of just 15 organizations statewide to receive a State Fiscal Year 2027 Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) Community Grant!

This investment will help us continue expanding opportunities for physical activity, improving nutrition, reducing tobacco use, and preventing chronic disease across Finney, Morton, Scott, and Stanton counties—all while supporting priorities identified by our communities through the Community Health Needs Assessment.
