This week’s LiveWell Finney County newsletter highlights new opportunities to strengthen youth prevention efforts, important health awareness campaigns, and upcoming community events.
LiveWell Finney County was recently selected to participate in the Youth Engagement Enhanced Technical Assistance opportunity through Upstream Kansas. Through this program, the coalition will work with national prevention experts to strengthen youth engagement and leadership in local substance misuse prevention efforts. LiveWell will partner with consultant Rikki Barton to help expand youth leadership opportunities and continue building strong youth-driven prevention strategies across Southwest Kansas.
March is also recognized as Problem Gambling Awareness Month, which helps bring attention to the impact gambling addiction can have on individuals, families, and communities. The Southwest Kansas Problem Gambling Taskforce is working to provide education and resources to help those affected and reduce stigma around seeking support.
The newsletter also highlights National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 20, a time dedicated to increasing awareness, reducing healthcare disparities, and encouraging testing and support for Native communities.
Upcoming LiveWell events include a Colon Cancer Prevention Lunch & Learn with Dr. Rodrigue Fontem on March 23, followed by the next Finney County Community Health Coalition meeting on March 24 at noon.
LiveWell Finney County continues to work with community partners to promote prevention, education, and healthier futures across Southwest Kansas.
