Through the Kansas Strategic Prevention Framework, PAX Tools for Human Services training is fully funded for eligible organizations right here in Finney County. That means your staff — case managers, youth workers, family supporters, BHTs, counselors, community educators — can get trained at no cost to your organization.

What is PAX Tools?PAX Tools is a collection of trauma-informed, evidence-based behavioral strategies used by youth-serving professionals across schools, behavioral health agencies, community organizations, and family support programs. It gives your team practical tools to reduce conflict, build self-regulation in youth, and strengthen the adult-child relationships that drive better outcomes.

June was a month of collaboration and community impact for LiveWell Finney County. Highlights included the Finney County Health & Safety Fair, regional breastfeeding training for healthcare professionals, ongoing efforts to promote healthy eating and physical activity through LHEAT, Forest Lake Park improvements and community engagement, Men’s Health Month awareness, and the launch of KDHE’s new Tobacco Is Changing website. Thank you to our partners, volunteers, and community members who continue to help build a healthier, safer Finney County.

Join us on Tuesday, June 23 at Noon in Classroom B at St. Catherine Hospital–Garden City for the next LiveWell Finney County Coalition meeting.

This month’s program will feature representatives from The Refinery, who will share how they are promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles throughout Finney County. Learn about local opportunities to get active, improve wellness, and support a healthier community.

Everyone interested in improving the health and well-being of Finney County is welcome to attend. Feel free to bring your lunch or purchase food from the hospital cafeteria before the meeting.

This week, LiveWell Finney County is helping raise awareness about an important change in Kansas law. Beginning July 1, 2026, kratom and 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) will become illegal in Kansas. A statewide awareness campaign is underway to help educate residents about the risks associated with these substances and available support resources.

We are also recognizing Men’s Health Month by encouraging the men in our lives to stay active, schedule regular checkups, and take steps to reduce their risk of chronic disease.

Our trail counters recorded another strong month of activity, with nearly 9,000 visits to Talley Trail and Pioneer Trail combined during May. Thank you to everyone who is taking advantage of these community assets to stay active and healthy!
